Herne Bay Harriers 4 Hugin Vikings 0
Herne Bay Harriers Under 15’s
completely dominated their match against Hugin Vikings and came out worthy
winners 4-0, with the Man of the Match award going to
M. Epps for a solid performance in the heart of the Harriers defence.
Vikings started brightly, but the Harriers upped the tempo and soon created
early chances, with shots from M. Weeks, R. Tait and B. Sargeant. A flowing move
down the left saw the Harriers take the lead when D. Marsden finished from close
range.
In the second half R. Gower extended the Harriers lead with a solo run down the
right, with his shot go in off the far post. Minutes later L. Senft broke the
Viking defence and slotted the ball between the advancing keeper’s legs,
allowing the Harriers to go 3 up.
J. Culver in the Harriers goal was redundant for most of the game, but was
called upon to pull off a superb one handed save to keep a blank sheet midway
through the second half. The game was put beyond doubt, when J. Gould neatly
steered the ball with his chest to J. Bishop who clinically finished in a
crowded penalty box to round off an outstanding team performance.
