Herne Bay Harriers 6 Ramsgate Youth Colts 4
A first half hat-trick from D. Van
Orsouw put Harriers in front in a tight match at Briary.
His first came after a goalmouth Malay was half cleared and, from just inside
the area, he lobbed the ball over the crowded goalmouth and into the net.
Ramsgate were soon on level terms from an excellent move involving lots of quick
one touch passes. However, Van Orsouw soon restored the lead when he outran the
defence from his own half and deftly lifted the ball over the advancing keeper.
The hatrick was completed moments later when he converted a B.Harding corner
with his head.
After the break Harriers struggled to live up to their first half efforts and
several players looked well below par. Ramsgate seized the initiative and pulled
a goal back, levelling soon after from a spot kick and inevitably taking the
lead.
D. Van Orsouw was then withdrawn into midfield to support T. Inglis and between
them Harriers started to build a head of steam and put pressure on the visitors
goal. Eventually the breakthrough was made when the keeper was unable to hold
onto a close range shot from O. Love and C. Tait volleyed home despite the
desperate efforts of the defenders to clear.
Another exquisite corner from B. Harding was thumped home by the diving head of
J. Blackwell to restore Harriers lead and as Ramsgate tried to get something
from the game B. Tamplin was able to break and coolly finish to avoid a tense
finale.
