Herne Bay Harriers under 14`s romped through to the second round of The John Smith Memorial Cup on Sunday with an impressive win over first division
side River Colts. Harriers new boy Glenn Johnson started the stream of Harriers goals minutes after River put themselves in front. Harriers gave it their all
in the first half applying constant pressure on Rivers line of bewildered defenders. A fine strike from C. Martin and four more screamers by Johnson
gave Harriers a comfortable lead at the break. Second half action was more defensive from the Harriers lads more or less knowing they already sealed
the victory, but still took chances when offered and attacked the opposition with flair, goals from D. O`Connell, M. Scudder and S. (Todge) Davies put
an end to any doubt of a victory. Final score 9-3 an outstanding win for a second division team against one of the top flight division one teams.
