Kennington 3 Herne Bay Harriers 3

A close fought game in which  the Harriers couldn't quite find a way to beat a well organised 10 man Kennington despite lots of chances on goal.

A lively start saw a new look Under 16's take an early 1-0 lead in the 2nd minute thanks to a wonder strike from debutant L. Philby from all of 20 yards out.

Unfortunately the lead lasted only two minutes as Kennington levelled with a solo run through the middle of the pitch and a strike that left D. Christie stranded.

10th minute : M. Dance has a long range effort graze the top of the cross bar and then against the run of play Kennington get a goal to take a 2-1 lead.

17th minute : A good piece of quick passing ends with a shot on goal that the keeper can only put out for a corner, after a poor clearance another long
range effort this time from captain  K. Christie goes just over.

20th minute : S. Taylor runs through on goal to try and lob a fast approaching keeper but unfortunately he lobs the cross bar in the process.

25th minute : M. Dance puts in a great cross to D. O'Connell who's well timed header just goes the wrong side of the post.

30th minute : Harriers patience pulls off after a great tackle from E. Govier on the left hand side of Harriers area and then a great ball up the line
helps in an attractive passing build up to D. O'Connells well taken equaliser, a good team effort involving 5 or 6 players.

40th minute : D. Christie makes an unbelievable stop from close range to save Harriers blushes and then follows it up by beating everyone to catch
the cross from the resulting corner.

45th minute : M. Hughes makes an important last ditch tackle to prevent Kennington getting another 1 on 1 .

2nd Half.

55th minute : A break down the left for Kennington and a finish worthy of winning any match squeezed along the goal line and in to the opposite bottom
corner gives Kennington the lead for a second time.

60th minute : Harriers show great BOUNCEBACKABILITY to come from behind for a second time after another good possessive spell ends in a  fierce shot that the goal keeper can only parry towards his net and a well "snatched" tap in by L. Philby his 2nd and Harriers 3rd to make it 3-3.

62nd minute: Kennington get a rhythm going as M. Hughes is forced to make another challenge to prevent Kennington going through on goal.

64th minute : A good spell for Kennington almost results in heartbreak but for another fantastic save from D. Christie from a shot that was going in all the way.

65th minute : D. Christie makes another save and holds onto the ball to stop another Kennington break.

65th - 90th minute : The game was becoming very end to end and a real nail biter, the Harriers had several good chances to clinch a win but it just wasn't to be.

The result ended as a well earned 3-3 Draw well done Boys!!!
