Deal Town Rangers 3 Herne Bay Harriers 5
Whilst our general football and attacking was good, our defending as a team left major room for improvement, relying on an individual to make the vital tackle or interception.
Scoring within a minute of the restart settled the team and a quickly taken short corner saw F. Effemey make the score 3 - 1 with a shot that dipped into the net from a tight angle.
At 3 - 1, we should have been in a position to kill the game off, but Deal continued to attack us and deservedly brought the game back to 3 - 2.
The game was nail biting, end to end action and as we scored to make it 4 - 2, Deal replied, 4 - 3.
Z. Wakerly finished off a good move with his unfavoured left foot, to complete his hat-trick, following an interchange of passes with T. Barton to finish the scoring and make the final result 5 - 3.
A special thanks to L. Colgan who performed admirably in only his second game in goal.
This result continued our winning streak, but also showed that whilst we are good at creating chances, our scoring percentage needs to be much higher.
More concerning is our team defending, and we need to continue to work hard over the next few weeks in this area to ensure that the results are still favourable.
