Curzon Rangers 0 Herne Bay Harriers Colts 4

Curzon Rangers Under 9s were out classed and out played by Herne Bay Harriers Colts Under 9s.

On a day that saw Harriers rampant but only scoring 4, hitting the post three times and the crossbar once.

In all fairness the score line could have been far greater.

The Harriers got off to a good start scoring within two minutes when M. Farbrace (The Hawk) swooped onto a loose ball in the penalty area and hit the ball home from close range.

Harriers were piling on the pressure with shot after shot pounding the Curzon goal.

It was remarkable how the Colts were not 4 or 5 up in the first ten minutes.

J. Mercer (The Maestro) was pulling all the strings in midfield switching the ball left and right.

Left midfielder M. Farbrace was spreading his wings and attacking their defence at every opportunity and creating chances for others as well as himself.

It wasn't a surprise when Farbrace struck again, A. Taylor (The wing wizard )crossed the ball into the box and Farbrace lofted the ball over the advancing keeper to make it 0 - 2 to the Harriers.

C. Sargeant (The fox in the box) hit the post from a rebound after J. Mercer struck a 30 yard shot that hit the crossbar.

Shortly afterwards Mercer went on a solo run beating two players on the edge off the Curzon box only to see his shot also hit the post and go out for a goal kick.

Not to be outdone Farbrace who was on a hatrick, beat the right back and also slammed his shot against the post and saw it go out.

Now with total possession the Harriers were playing some sublime one and two touch football, passing and moving all over the pitch.

It was only good fortune that the score stayed 0 - 2 at the break.

Harriers started the second half in the the same vain, totally out foxing and out classing their opposition.

The defensive pairing of C. Gray and K. Connolly and keeper (The cat) Howlett were almost like spectators and had to be reminded from time to time to stay alert and focused.

Mercer scored Harriers third after picking up the ball in midfield playing a 1-2 with Taylor and beating a defender to slot the ball low and hard underneath the goal keeper.

With Harriers pitching their tents in the Curzon half A. Taylor weaved his magic for the final time, latching onto the ball from Mercer beating his marker, slotting the ball to make the final score 0 - 4 to the Harriers.
