Herne Bay Harriers Colts 1 Monkton Youth 0
The result doesn't reflect the game with Herne Bay Harriers Colts totally dominating all areas of the pitch limiting Monkton Under 9's to only one shot and that was a penalty of which was saved by the cat, D. Howlett, he made a superb save palming the ball away to safety.
The game got underway with wave after wave of attacking football from the home side.
Shortly into the first half Harriers were rewarded a penalty, C. Sargeant stepped up but it was saved by the Monkton keeper.
With attack after attack it was incredible how the Monkton keeper was keeping a clean sheet, save after save but Harriers kept pressing, hitting the post four times, the goal and the goalkeeper were living a charmed life, thats how the first half ended with the score being even 0 - 0.
Shortly into the second half A. Taylor hit the ball from at least 30 yards for Harriers which actually beat the keeper but not the crossbar and was cleared for a corner.
As the game progressed there was some lovely football being played by the home team, one and two touch between the midfield trio of M. Farbrace, Man of the Match J. Mercer and A. Taylor.
A. Taylor won a corner when Mercer passed the ball wide, Taylor, the wing wizard, crossed the ball into the near post but the ball was given back to him only to see him cross the ball to the far post for M. Farbrace, the Hawk ,to swoop and head the ball down past the stranded Monkton keeper to make it 1-0 to the Colts.
Towards the end of the game Monkton were
rewarded a penalty but the cat lapped it up with ease.
