Thanet Colts Res 2 Herne Bay Harriers Colts 2

ABANDONED DUE TO SEVERE WEATHER CONDITIONS

The game was abandoned about 5 - 10 minutes into the second half with both team managers deciding to call it a day.

After the weather conditions got so bad both teams were struggling to play and were turning blue with the rain pouring down.

The wind gusting around 40 mph causing freezing conditions.

Herne Bay Harriers management team would like to say that they are proud of their team for trying to play the game and for the parents support.

Thanet Colts Res took a 2 goal lead with the wind as their advantage in the first half.

Then J. Mercer for Herne Bay Harriers Colts took a superb free-kick after C. Sargeant was fouled just outside the box which hit the back of the net like a rocket, to bring the score to 2 - 1 at half time.

The second half got underway and within 5 minutes and now having the advantage of the wind Harriers struck again with J. Mercer unleashing another free-kick which was unstoppable to make it 2 - 2.

Even though it was raining and really cold Harriers were camped in the Thanet box, it was then noticed that members of both teams were crying with the sheer cold weather.

Then it was decided by the Harriers management team to approach the Thanet Colts Manager, and for the health and safety of the children both teams decided to abandon the game.

Final score 2-2.
