Monkton Youth 0 Herne Bay Harriers Colts 4

Even though Herne Bay Harriers Under 9 Colts won away to Monkton 0 - 4 it was a very lack lustre performance especially after the standards that they have set themselves.

However there were some good performances that set Harriers apart from Monkton.

C. Gray and K. Connolly were solid in defence, so was goalkeeper D. Howlett, so it was not a surprise when K. Connolly. the demolition man. unleashed a superb strike from just inside the opposition half to see the ball fly over the Monkton keeper and hit the back of the net making the score 0 - 1 halfway in the first half.

Harriers were dominating in spurts and it was against the run of play when they got their second.

A. Taylor, the wing wizard, beat the Monkton defender and smashed the ball past the stationary keeper to bring the score line to 0 - 2 at the break.

The Colts seemed to struggle on a smaller pitch and couldn't get their passing game together.

They still battled on and were rewarded with yet another goal from A. Taylor when he went on a solo run ,beat two Monkton players and as the keeper advanced he placed the ball underneath him to make it 0 - 3.

As the game progressed Harriers were having a number of chances on the Monkton goal only to be stopped by the keeper who made save after save, but eventually A. Taylor got his third when J. Mercer passed the ball inside the fullback for Taylor to out pace the defender and slot the ball past the Monkton keeper and into the far post, bringing the final score to 0 - 4.
