Herne Bay Harriers Colts 3 Tankerton FC
2
Top of the table clash sees Herne Bay Harriers victorious,
even though the score line was 3-2 to the Harriers u9 colts the score line
didn't reflect the
game with Harriers totally dominating the first half with shot after shot
raining down on the tankerton goal.
Finally late in the first half J. Mercer switched the ball
out wide left to J. Burrows who cut inside, steadied himself and perfectly
placed the ball into the right hand corner of Tankertons net from outside the
box bringing the score to a deserved 1-0 lead.
K. Connolly and C. Gray were immense for Harriers in defence limiting Tankerton
F.C. to a handfull of chances over the entire game.
The second half got underway and as people know 1-0 is not a safe scoreline and
as Tankerton pushed forward a simple mistake gifted a goal to equalise making
the score 1-1.
An inspired substitution by the Harriers manager and some
reshuffling of the teams formation J.Spiller took the ball up the right hand
wing and squared the ball across the box for K. Connolly to thunder the ball
home from close range
to make the score 2-1 to the Harriers.
Herne Bay Harriers were still pilling on the pressure with attack after attack
and their hard work was rewarded with a corner.
J.Mercer crossed the ball into the Tankerton box, the ball
was then collected by man of the match K. Connolly who struck the ball which hit
the foot of the post and rebounded back to Connolly and he calmly side footed
the ball back into the goal making the score 3-1 to the colts.
On a very hot day and with Harriers making all the running the tiredness was
starting to show and in the dying seconds of the match Tankerton got a late goal
to make the scoreline 3-2 at the final whistle.
