Woodnesborough 1 Herne Bay Harriers Colts 7

With Herne Bay Harriers Colts playing well below their usual standard they still managed to pull off a 1-7 victory away to Woodnesborough.

Chances, chances, chances, even though harriers dominated the entire game with little response from the opposition, one day their missed chances will come back to haunt them.

The Harriers started positive from the start with early chances from A. Taylor, C. Sargeant and J. Burrows, it took close to fifteen minutes before the deadlock was broken.

A. Taylor, the wing wizard, received the ball from J. Mercer, cut inside, entered the box and slammed the ball into the bottom right hand corner of the net.

With the game continuing in the same fashion K. Connolly, the demolition man, released a long ball out to wing wizard Burrows who switched the play to the opposite side of the pitch, A. Taylor collected the ball, chested the ball forward after one bounce and stroking the ball on the half volley from the edge of the box to see his strike magically sail into the top left hand corner of the net between the stanchion and the post making the score 0-2 at half time.

J. Spiller, norman nippy, entered for the second half and injected some real desire and passion.

With Harriers starting to come alive they were rewarded a corner from which J. Mercer crossed the ball to the near post and a Woodnesborough player  cleared the ball only to see it fall back at Mercers' feet and without being closed down he entered the edge of the box and calmly lofted the ball into the top right hand corner of the net making it 0-3.

Then up steps J. Spiller, man of the match, heart pumping like a moped, latched onto a scramble in the box he placed the ball low and hard into the near post to make it 0-4.

With the pressure still continuing it was all one way traffic, Harriers were rewarded yet another corner, J. Mercer crossed the ball to the near post, J. Spiller sprinted towards the ball and flicked the ball over both defender and the advancing goalkeeper to make it the fifth goal of the game.

Harriers were starting to get over confident and allowed a Woodnesborough midfielder a shot at their goal which beat stand in keeper M. Frabrace at the far post bringing the score to 1 - 5, however Harriers were not finished there.

Straight from the restart C. Gray passed the ball down the line to A. Taylor, the wing wizard, who went past the fullback and had a cross shot which saw J. Spiller dummy the ball and allowed it to travel on its original path and straight into the far post giving A. Taylor his hatrick and his second in two weeks.

Also not to be outdone Spiller decided to unleash another shot inside the box to also complete his hatrick and bring the game to an end at 1-7 to the Harriers.
