Thannington Colts 2 Herne Bay Harriers 8

 
 

Herne Bay Harriers Under 17’s secured all three points after convincingly beating Thannington Colts FC 8 – 2.

 

For most of the first half both teams exchanged chances and eventually the deadlock was broken when R. Tait’s fierce shot rebound off the crossbar and Man of the Match J. Bishop was on hand to head past the keeper, putting the Harriers in the lead.

 

Thannington then drew level when they scored from the spot and just before half time they took the lead with a scrappy goal, allowing Thannington to be 2 – 1 up at the break.

 

In the second half it was one way traffic, with the Harriers dominating affairs, scoring 6 goals, with 2 goals from L. Senft, a goal each from T. Watts, C. Monticolombi, B. Sargeant, J. Bishop and with an own goal.

 

There were excellent performance from skipper S. Turner driving the Harriers on, J. Putnam, R. Blackwell and M. Epps created a solid defence, with E. Webb providing superb support wide in the mid-field.

 

Manager Peter Tait stated, “ This was a first class team performance getting this year off to a positive start for the Harriers and if we can maintain this standard we should have a good second half to the season”.
