In a thoroughly entertaining match, Herne Bay Harriers Senior Team beat local rivals Tyler Hill 4 -2 in their Division 1 clash.

The Harriers without some key players started the brightest and put Tyler Hill under pressure, with good passing and movement.

They took the lead with a well executed volley from J. Bishop in the penalty area.

Minutes later S. Turner extended the Harriers lead when he received the ball from C. Monticolombi on the edge of the box and fired the ball into the top corner of the goal.

Tyler Hill then upped their play and this needed the Harriers defence of T. Watts, J. Putnam, R. Tait and Man of the Match D. Marsden to work hard to maintain the Harriers lead.

In the second half Tyler Hill pulled a goal back, but the Harriers took the initiative when B. Sargeant picked up the ball in the middle of the pitch and drove forward to the edge of the Tyler Hill penalty box where he dispatched an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net.

As the game progressed R. Blackwell in the Harriers goal pulled off a number of excellent saves allowing the Harriers to keep the lead, which was extended further when J. Bishops' delightful chip was controlled by M. King who gave the Tyler Hill keeper no chance with his bullet shot.

Tyler Hill scored a late consolation goal, but at the final whistle the Harriers claimed all three points
