Great Chart Colts 4 Herne Bay Harriers 5 (aet)
Herne Bay Harriers Under 17’s moved into the next round of the cup when they beat Great Chart Colts 5 – 4 after extra time.
In a thrilling match at Ashford the Harriers found themselves two goals behind early in the first half and didn’t look like scoring until B. Sargeant struck an excellent free-kick in to the bottom corner of the goal.
Just before the break Great Chart extended their lead and went in at half time leading 3 – 1.
In the second half the Harriers, with Man of the Match S. Turner driving the team forward, pulled a goal back when R Tait’s cross was deflected in for an own goal.
R. Blackwell in the Harriers goal pulled off a number of saves to keep the Harriers in the match and with game being played in over time J. Bishop equalised to send the tie into extra time.
In extra time both teams tried to win the game, but it was the Harriers who struck first went L. Senft hit a superb shot from a tight angle to beat the keeper.
In the second half Senft completed his brace when he latched onto a through ball from D. Chamberlain and scored to put the tie beyond Great Chart.
With minutes remaining Great Chart scored their fourth goal, but it was too late as the final whistle went and the Harriers celebrated their well deserved victory.
