Herne Bay Harriers 15 Dynamo United 0

With a full squad available this was a game that we had to win, but more importantly the performance was key, following last week’s disappointment.

We started quickly and were a goal up inside 2 minutes. For the next 10 minutes we tore Dynamo apart and it was no surprise that we were 4-0 inside 12 minutes.

Our football was precise and the quick passing and moving left our opponents chasing shadows. Dynamo tried to come back at us, but found that our new defensive awareness cut out any threat. In possession, we were superb and were creating regular chances and going in 9-0 at half time, with every outfield player scoring, was little more than we deserved.

The pick of the goals were two fantastic headers from Zack and Rhys. We needed to maintain the momentum in the second half, and that we did. To be fair Dynamo tried to attack, but when we won back possession, it was really a matter of how many goals we were going to score, as time and time again our football ripped holes through their defence. We again tired at the end of the match, and Dynamo had several good chances to get a consolation goal, but a mixture of poor finishing and good defending/goalkeeping gave us our first clean sheet of the season.

This sort of performance has been on the cards for some weeks, and if we maintain this level we should start climbing up the league table. Key was our conversion of chances created, as this has been an issue so far. The biggest concern is that we are running out of steam in the last 10 minutes, and this area we must address.

The boys should be proud of their performance, and we are still improving week on week. Some of our football is way above what should be expected of this age group, and now that we have come to terms with the physical side, we should prove a difficult opponent for any team in any division
