Herne Bay Harriers 4 Hurricanes 3
Our opening game of the season in Division 2 was a very physical and niggly game, which is something we have not previously experienced in Division 1.
Despite this the team played some good football, but we defended poorly as a unit and this enabled Hurricanes to stay in the game.
The players were affected by the physical nature and intimidation of the opponents and we need to rise to the challenge without dropping our own standards, because our opponents will be better at that type of football than we ever will be, if we are looking to be successful in the league.
The score line was a bit kind to Hurricanes as had we took just a few of the good chances we created the game would have been out of sight.
I would commend our players for showing self restraint in what were very difficult circumstances.
Winning our opening game was important to the team and should instil the necessary level of confidence to progress this year.
