Herne Bay Harriers 3 Thanet Colts 3
Thanet Colts like ourselves were relegated from division 1 last season, so this was going to be an interesting match, especially as Thanet had lost their opening two matches.
We opened brightly and controlled the first 10 minutes, but failed to take the chances created.
Gradually Thanet came into the match and took the lead from a corner, when we switched off and failed to go with the runner leaving him free to score from 5 yards.
A further corner saw us 2 - 0 behind, again failing to mark the runner, albeit that it was a great header.
We were on the ropes and struggling to get back into the game and it was no surprise that we conceded a further sloppy goal to see us 3 - 0 down.
We battled back and managed to score just before halftime.
The second half was a transformation, from the first minute we went at Thanet and completely dominated the game.
We created numerous chances and it wasn’t a surprise that with 10 minutes left we found ourselves level at 3 - 3.
There was only one team likely to win the game, but we just couldn’t convert the chances that came our way.
It was pleasing that we came back so strongly, when last year would have seen us lose heavily, and furthermore we seemed more capable of dealing with the physical side of the game.
