Herne Bay Harriers 2 Dover Rangers Colts 2

After last week match we were looking to maintain the momentum.

Dover started well, but we were soon dominating the match and regularly creating chances.

However our final pass was generally poor, but even allowing for that, when we did get it right we were weak in front of goal, albeit that their keeper was in outstanding form. Then totally against the run of play we found ourselves 1-0 down. But as we were in control we felt that this was no more than a glitch. We carried on creating but went in at half time 1-0 down.

The second half was a repeat of the first, but for all our chances we were open to a sucker punch and found ourselves 2-0 down with nearly 20 minutes left, and were now trying to save a game that could have been comfortably won 5 times over.

We increased the momentum and carried on creating but without any luck. It was looking more and more likely that this was a match where we could have played all day and not scored.

With around ten minutes to go we pulled one back and set about looking to find an equaliser. Eventually the goal came with a few minutes remaining, but in the last 10 minutes we still could have had 6 goals had our finishing been better.

This was a match that we’ll look back on as one of those days, when in front of goal nothing went right and when it did, their keeper was exceptional. I just hope that this does not cost us come the end of the season. We must look to find the form prior to the elongated break and if we do, come the end of the season we’ll still be up there with a shout for winning the league. We need 7 wins from the last 7 games, and then see what happens.

Scorers : Ethan Hunt, Tom Barton
