Herne Bay Youth 1 Herne Bay Harriers 9

Harriers entered this local derby hoping to build on their great start to the season.

The first 5 minutes saw both teams sizing each other up until Kieran Bleau found himself in some space down the left, beat their right back and hammered the ball into the net to continue his great goal scoring form. Captain Charlie Hammond then picked up the ball on the edge of the box in acres of space, composed himself, picked his spot and curled the ball into the top left hand corner. Tom Ireton in his new found “fox in the box” roll got himself on the end of a Kieran Bleau cross to knock the ball home. Kieron Laughton had to come off due to injury and was replaced by debutant Harry Darling, who slotted into mid field nicely.

3-0 up at half time, but the match far from over.

The second half kicked off and harriers took complete control. The mid field of Ryan, Luke, Harry and later Kieron L just kept supplying the ammo for the strikers.

Charlie hit another scorcher from just inside the box which their keeper couldn’t keep out. He them completed his hatrick with a tap-in after some great link up play involving Tom and Ryan.

Our back four of Henry, Charlie D, Ben W and Calvin (who his playing out of his skin this season) were steady and composed throughout, winning and distributing the ball to the midfield with complete composure. The only blip was when youth managed to break through, Allan raced off his line and pulled off a magnificent save only for the ball to land at their striker’s feet for him to score.

Harriers wanted more goals.

Charlie then turned provider for Kieran B, who squeezed the ball under the youth’s keeper.

Kieron L put in a lovely cross which bounced in the six yard box, and looked to have beaten Tom, but he jumped, arched his back and nodded the ball home.

Not to be out done the midfield wanted some of the action. The quick footed Ryan pounced onto a rebounded ball, skipped though 4 defenders and poked the ball home. To finish the rout Kieron L then hit a ball from out on the left wing which he saw float into the far corner of the goal for his first goal for the U13.

This was a great team performance by all involved, playing some lovely passing football. Well done lads.

The mom award this week went to Charlie Hammond for his hatrick and all round performance. Well done
