Woodnesborough 3 Herne Bay Harriers 5
The Under 13s travelled to Woodnesborough in their opening game and came away with all 3 points in a good start to the season.
Woodnesborough opened the scoring with a good long range effort but Kieran Bleau, continuing his pre season form (9 goals in last 3 games), levelled with a cool finish.
A Ryan Lee through ball then found Andrew Orr who finished from 15 yards with a thunderous shot and then Ryan Lee put Harriers 3-1 up at half time with a well directed header.
The Harriers defence were coping well with Henry Lee in good form and it wasn't long before Kieran Bleau got his second after timing his run from a 30 yard inch perfect pass from Charlie Hammond.
At 4-1 up Tom Ireton had to go off with a suspected broken rib but not before he had made his mark at right back.
With no substitutes and Henry Lee and Ben Waite taking knocks Woodnesborough took the initiative and pulled 2 goals back.
With Calvin Saward, Ben Waite ,Ben Taylor and Harry Parker working hard the team held firm.
A
great stop from Allan Delow in goal with his feet was vital at a point when
Woodnesborough felt they could snatch something, but a fantastic piece of
football by Charlie Hammond saw him finish with aplomb from 25 yards and the
3 points were coming back to Herne Bay.
A good team performance today and some good individual play.
However, the Harriers MOM went to an ever improving player whose pace and concentration were important today. So well done to Calvin Saward.
