Herne Bay Harriers 1 Kennington Juniors 4

The Under 13s played Kennington at Herne on Sunday and started very well. Some bright early exchanges between the midfield and the front two saw Harriers take the lead when Tom Ireton found himself one on one with their keeper and easily finished.

However, the lead didn’t last too long when Kennington drew level and then added a second to go 2-1 up.

An injury to Kieron Laughton saw Harry Parker come on and he made an immediate impact when his run and cross found Tom whose shot from 6 yards came off the post. This was a turning point in the game.

The second half saw Harriers on the back foot despite some good defending, in particular Ben Waite and Harry Darling but Kennington were a very big team, whose strength on a large, heavy pitch suited them more. Kennington sealed the game with two second half goals and deserved their win on the day.

Ryan Lee in the Harriers midfield again had a very good game but Harriers MOM went to Harry Parker who had his best game of the season so far.

The Under 13s have 6 games left and will need to match the 6 wins they had in their opening games of the season to challenge for the Div 4 title.

Under the captaincy of Charlie Hammond, the team are more than capable of doing this.

Team : Allan Delow, Luke Parker, Chas Dadswell, Ben Waite, Harry Darling, Charlie Hammond, Andrew Orr, Ryan Lee, Kieron Laughton, Harry Parker, Tom Ireton, Kieran Bleau.
