Sturry Colts 2 Herne Bay Harriers 'A' 3
It was an even start with both teams looking to stamp there authority on the game. Both defences were holding firm Jack Masters and Callum Wyles were dealing with all Sturry could offer.
It was Luke Davis-Martine in the Harriers midfield who gave the Harriers there first chance playing the ball through, only for a Sturry defender to intercept at the vital moment. It was Luke again who played the ball through to Billy Surbey who took full advantage shooting from well outside the box. He watched the ball nestle in the roof of the net, a fantastic finish.
Joe Evenden came on and made a last ditch tackle to stop Sturry’s striker. Sturry then had a succession of corners which was dealt very well by Jamie Kemp in the Harriers goal. The Harriers continued to counter attack. Morgan May came on as more players tired and his energy was amazing in the Harriers midfield. One nil to the Harriers at half time.
The second half began with Sturry again pushing forward but Ryan Kingsford made tackle after tackle to stop them. It was Luke Davis-Martine again who picked up the ball, played a one two with Lewis Quinney and made a charging run down the left. Luke then crossed for Lewis to finish. Sturry were rattled and came out fighting pushing the Harriers back. Sturry won a throw and a defensive mistake allowed them to get one back.
The Harriers were looking tired and Sturry scored again after a slip by the Harriers defence. This only woke the Harriers who were determined not to lose. Thee Harriers pushed forward down the left, Cameron Hayward exchanged passes with Billy Surbey only for Billy to shoot wide. Another two chances for the Harriers passed until Luke Davis-Martine picked up the ball in the middle skipped over the Sturry defender and was clear through. Luke coolly placed the ball into the corner of the net for the winner. The whistle blew the Harriers had beaten the leagues only unbeaten side.
A great team effort away from home. Well done lads!!!!
