Herne Bay Harriers 'A' 2 Tankerton 1

On this cold frosty morning the Harriers were looking to do the double over Tankerton. Captain for the day Joe Evenden lost the toss and the Harriers lost there way right from the start. Tankerton started brightly with some smart passing moves but Jamie Kemp made two good saves in the Harriers goal to keep the score level. Tankerton then broke clear but Callum Wyles made a last ditch tackle.

Tankerton finally got the goal they deserved after the Harriers failed to clear a corner. Billy Surbey, Morgan May and Jack Masters all came on and the Harriers stepped up there game. Ryan Kingsford then made a driving run down the right and crossed low for Billy Surbey who hit the bar with a curling shot but Billy followed the ball to tap in from close range. One all at half-time.

The second half began with the Harriers pushing Tankerton back; Luke Davies-Martine made a driving run but was tackled at the vital moment. Cameron Hayward never stopped running and gave the Tankerton defence plenty to think about. Morgan May made tackle after tackle in the Harriers midfield.

As the game drew on and the pitch was deteriorating Ryan Kingsford was fouled on the edge of the box, Ryan got up to take the free kick which was only parried by the Tankerton keeper and Lewis Quinney was the quickest to react and tap in.

Tankerton pushed forward looking for the equaliser but great tackles from Jack Masters and Joe Evenden kept the Harriers in the lead. The final whistle went and the game finished 2-1 a good hard working performance in very difficult pitch conditions.
