Under 9's Cup
Semi Final
Faversham Strike Force 0 Herne Bay Harriers 'A' 3
The Harriers went into this cup semi final with high hopes after defeating Strike Force twice in the league already this season. However form went out the window as the Harriers started poorly and Strike Force took advantage. They had a succession of corners but Jamie Kemp in the Harriers goal made two goal line saves to keep the score level. Strife Force pushed on but Joe Evenden in the Harriers defence made a last ditch tackle to stop them.
The Harriers tried to get there game going but looked tired in the sunshine, they did create a good chance when Cameron Hayward cut in from the left but the Strike Force keeper pushed it away for a corner. No Score at half time.
The Harriers came out for the second half determined not to lose and straight from the kick off Luke Davies-Martine ran down the left crossed low but it was cut out. From the resulting corner there was a goal mouth scramble and Morgan May shot just wide. The Harriers were starting to pass and create chances. Callum Wyles charged up from defence and had his shot blocked on the edge of the box.
The Harriers were piling on the pressure but still no goals, the goal finally came as Ryan Kingsford and Luke Davies-Martine combined down the left Ryan cut in and beat the last defender and smashed it low into the net. Straight from the kick off Lewis Quinney put Strike Force under pressure and the rest of the team lifted there game again. Within minutes Lewis Quinney spun round the last defender and coolly lifted the ball over the advancing keeper to make it two nil.
Strike Force were not giving up they caught the Harriers with a counter attack leaving Jack Masters to defend against 2 Strike Force players, he stood firm making a timely tackle. Joe Evenden then made a run down the right but was unable to deliver to the unmarked Lewis Quinney.
The goal of the game came as a brilliant one two between Lewis Quinney and Luke Davies-Martine allowed Lewis to cross for Cameron Hayward to tap in and seal the win.
A brilliant second half effort from the boys had secured a cup final in there very first season together. WELL DONE LADS!!!
